INDIANAPOLIS (USA) (March 21, 2012) — At the 2012 Mid-America Trucking
Show, Firestone Industrial Products (Booth #19080) is showcasing nextgeneration
air spring technologies, including lighter-weight components and the
revolutionary Airide™ Integrative Air-Damping System. The company is also
highlighting significant milestones in the evolution of air spring technology, which
was originally developed by Firestone Industrial Products 75 years ago.
“Firestone Industrial Products has a proven track record in manufacturing quality
air springs that improve driver comfort, protect cargo and provide miles of
trouble-free service,” said John Vincent, president at Firestone Industrial
Products. “Through new product innovations and a solid global presence, we
look forward to bringing the benefits of air spring technology to the heavy-duty
trucking industry for many years to come.”
Firestone Industrial Products’ most recent innovation, the AirideTM Integrative Air-
Damping System, offers an effective, lighter-weight alternative to cab mount
suspension applications, providing the functionality of an air spring and shock
absorber in a single part. The system is comprised of an exterior bellow made of
natural rubber that encompasses a proprietary, shock-absorbing module.
Preliminary testing indicates a notable reduction in the transmission and
frequency of vibration when compared to traditional air spring/shock absorber or
air spring/hydraulic damper configurations.
“The Airide Integrative Air-Damping System has the potential for an
unprecedented level of comfort that significantly reduces driver fatigue,” added
Vincent. “Also, since the system reduces vibration inputs in the cab structure,
there is less strenuous wear-and-tear on cab mounting points, ensuring longlasting,
dependable performance.”
Firestone Industrial Products is also taking steps to help reduce overall vehicle
weight — a key factor in maximizing fuel efficiency — through lighter-weight,
primary air spring options. These next-generation air springs offer weight
reductions of up to three pounds per spring.
While much of the Firestone Industrial Product exhibit is focused on forwardthinking
technology, the company is also commemorating its tradition of
innovation. Key milestones include the development of the first air spring, railspecific
air springs, ultrasonic internal height sensors and aftermarket air springs
for light-duty trucks and vehicles. Over the years, Firestone Industrial Products
also has expanded its presence from North America to include offices and
manufacturing operations on four continents.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Firestone Industrial Products Company, LLC announces a variety of install accessories are available for quicker, easier installation of the manufacturer’s Air-Rite™ air accessory systems, which enable drivers to conveniently adjust Firestone’s line of air helper springs using its own air compressor, not an outside source of air.
The No Drill Electronic/Remote Air Command™ Frame Mount (part # WR1-760-2529) includes the necessary brackets and plates for technicians to easily mount the Air-Rite air accessory system to the vehicle frame without any drilling. Most Air-Rite air accessory systems include an air compressor, in-dash gauge and control switch, air line, fittings and fasteners. Drivers can customize their 12-volt system by choosing a Light Duty, Standard Duty, or Heavy Duty Compressor, and a Classic, Electric, or Remote Control Gauge. The air pressure adjustments can be made by using a controller installed near the driver or a remote.
“By using our no drill frame mounts, technicians can avoid drilling up to eight holes into the vehicle – simply bolt the air accessory system onto the plate, then bolt the plate to the side rails,” said Todd Green, regional sales manager, Firestone Industrial Products, Ride-Rite™ division. “For shop owners, having the ability to pre-assemble the mounts before a customer arrives cuts down on lift time, which results in savings for the shop.”
Firestone also offers a No Drill Combo Kit (part #WR1-760-2530) that provides a no drill option for an air compressor plus a tank installation, as well as a Fuse Circuit Tap Kit (part #WR1-760-2526) to tap into the fuse box in the engine compartment without having to splice into wires.

The Coil-Rite air helper springs for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle (part #W23-760-4184) fit inside a vehicle’s existing coil spring and can be adjusted for varying loads and road conditions by increasing and decreasing the air pressure within the helper springs, which is as easy as adjusting the air pressure in a tire. They help maximize the vehicle’s safe load carrying capacity, as well asimprove braking effectiveness, level headlight beams and reduce tire wear.
“Today’s drivers are looking to maintain towing characteristics and maximize the functionality of these mid-size crossovers when towing or hauling items for family vacations, cross country road trips and camping excursions,” said Todd Green, regional sales manager, Firestone Industrial Products, Ride-Rite™ division. “Our Coil-Rite air helper springs are designed to help absorb road shock, providing a smoother ride for passengers and reducing the potential “bottoming out” that can be common in a loaded vehicle.”
